One of my New Year’s Resolutions/Goals was to work on kicking my sugar habit. I have had a huge sweet tooth my entire life. Cake for breakfast? I’m in. Frozen yogurt for dinner? You don’t have to ask me twice! As I sit here eating my Yogurtland Peanut Butter/Cheesecake concoction (which is delicious), I realize that something needs to change.
I’ve decided to do a detox of sorts, kick the sugar addiction completely, and then slowly ease a minimal amount back into my diet. It’s going to be difficult, and odd. I’ve decided to do away with all sweets and desserts for the month of February. I’m going to need all the energy I can get for school and half-marathon training, and the junk isn’t going to cut it. So this month, no desserts. I’ve found some Bible verses about resisting temptation, so those will double as my memory verses this month as well as a prayer to be able to make it through this challenge!
I tried a No Junk challenge back in October, and made it about two weeks before the Halloween treats got the best of me. That was a little more restrictive than this challenge, making it more do-able for the 29 days of the month. I have already decided that my chocolate chip Clif Bars are going to be allowed, since I’m making up the rules any way!
Do you have any advice or suggestions for me as I jump into this? Have you tried anything like it before?
